Chains Nodes and Decentralisation
We recognise that owning digital assets is vital.
However until gaming is fully decentralised publishers have too much control over those digital assets. Although NFTs are a step in the right direction you can't have true ownership until the systems where game logic runs ('the servers') are not owned by the publishers.
Why not? Because at any time server owners could decide to remove said servers taking the game offline and rendering NFT assets useless.
Centralised servers also mean that the games developers and publishers have total control over how the game works. A once powerful and expensive item can be removed from the game or nerfed in to obsolescence on a whim.
Publishers may even completely change the game: consider for example the dramatic change from RuneScape 2 to RuneScape 3. This change left thousands of players disgruntled, and ultimately led the games publisher Jagex to reintroduce RuneScape 2 under the new name RuneScape Classic. In a game economy where items are owned and have value outside the game this kind of change is significantly more impactful.
The technology challenge is great, current networks which rely on every node processing every transaction do not scale for the kind of processing that is required to support game logic. Even L2 approaches like ZK-Rollups and Optimistic-Rollups are not able to scale to anything but the most simple games.
Adjudication Model
Our revolutionary adjudication model bridges the gap between traditional game servers and the typical approach to blockchain. It is predicated on the notion that decentralisation does not mean every node on the network needs to run every calculation. Instead we let the importance of the calculation determine how many nodes need to validate the calculation.
Consider a friendly game of Scrabble against a friend, the only validation that you may require is that you and your friend agree on the outcome. If you are a little more serious about your scrabble, you may agree that a certain dictionary will serve as an adjudicator if you dispute a word.
By parcelling up game logic in to discreet, deterministic, blocks, we can use a similar model to decentralise the execution of game logic. Players agree on the rules that are in play and agree on a set of adjudicators that will resolve disputes. The higher the stakes, the larger the set of adjudicators.
A key point here is that, depending on the nature of the game, adjucation may not be needed. Our model is optimistic, if players agree on a result there is no need to ajudicate.
Centralisation to Decentralisation
When a game launches on our chain other parties may not be interested in adjudicating their games. So a game will typically launch with a set of Adjudicators provided by the games publisher. Effectively a centralised model that supports decentralisation.
How So? The nature of our chain means that to run an adjudicator you must make the game logic available to other nodes in the network, much like deploying a contract to a traditional chain makes the code of that contract available.
This means at any time if the publisher changes the game, individuals can decide to use the old adjudication model rather than use the publishers new version. This would not be typical, in most cases players will want the new updates that come along with the publishers new versions. But it means that if for some reason the publisher makes unpopular choices the older version of the game can continue to run as long as some nodes on the network are willing to adjudicate.
Earning OOBI with Master Nodes
In order to build out our network and ensure that older versions of games have available adjudicators we encourage users to run Master Nodes. Master Nodes will adjudicate any version of any launched game and serve as a system of record for games that do not have adjudicators (i.e. for friendly games where there is no dispute).
Master Node License
To run a Master Node you will need to hold on you wallet a Master Node License. These will be sold with an estimated price of $2500 USD per license. To encourage early adoption we will from time to time provide promotional offers which reduce the price of the Master Node licence. For example our limited edition Platinum VIP Memberships include a Master Node licence: https://docs.oobikoo.com/memberships#platinum-membership
Master Node Rewards
Adjudication transactions on the network will require players to pay the adjudicator a gas fee in $OOBI. However to provide a compelling case for the purchase of Master Node Licenses 30% of the $OOBI token pool will be distributed to master nodes over the course of 5 years starting on July 1 2025.
This means that ~1.6 million $OOBI will be distributed between Master Nodes each day!
Although we cannot determine the value of this distribution as it depends on both the token price and the number of master nodes available, we provide the following table to assist with your own calculations:

Decentralisation Roadmap
Q2 2025
Platinum Memberships
Platinum Memberships go on sale. Platinum Memberships include a Master Node Licence.
Q3 2025
Licenses and Virtual Nodes
We start selling Master Node licenses. Game Logic is not decentralised but from July 1 2025 we simulate the node network and start paying our Master Node license holders $OOBI as per the emission schedule.
Q1 2026
Hosted Nodes
Nodes start running decentralised Game Logic. We host the nodes on your behalf.
Q1 2027
Self Hosting
Node network becomes decentralised and you can run your own nodes.
For those who do not wish to run their own nodes we will provide an option for license holders to run nodes on our infrastructure for a reasonable fee.
Q2 2030
Emissions End
On June 30 2030 emissions end and Master Nodes earn only from gas fees.
